[edit] Plot outline
The U.S.S. Enterprise arrives at the Vedala asteroid, where Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock have been summoned to learn about a stolen religious artifact, the "Soul of the Skorr", whose theft could ignite a galactic holy war. The Skorr, an avian race which previously was a warrior society, would become hysterical due to the theft and breed an army of 100 billion warriors to attack the rest of the galaxy.
Joining Kirk and Spock are a team of specialists called in to help recover the item, which has been hidden on a very unstable and dangerous planet: Tchar, the hereditary prince of the Skorr; Sord, a reptilian with great strength; Em/3/Green, an insectiod who is a master lockpick; and Lara, a humanoid who is an accomplished tracker. Kirk and Spock soon learn that one of the party is a saboteur.
