The Inner City Pirates

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Inner City Pirates [formerly My Red Cell] are an alternative Welsh punk and indie rock band from Barry in South 'Wales', led by Russell Toomey. Until 2005 the group previously known as My Red Cell, were signed by Richard Branson's label V2 Records, the same company that produces the material of The Stereophonics, and released a number of singles from their debut album, 13 in my 31. During 2004 they went on tour all around the UK supporting the famous groups, The Libertines, and The White Stripes.[citation needed] They played at the Reading Festival in 2004 but were dropped by their label later that year and were forced to rename and search for a new record company. The Inner City Pirates and their lead man Russell Toomey are to play a set at the Reading and Leeds Festivals in 2006.
