The Idea of North is an Australian a cappella vocal ensemble, founded in Canberra in 1996.

They are generally referred to as a jazz quartet, but sing a wide variety of styles, including but not limited to: jazz, pop, R&B, classical, folk, soul, and hip-hop.

Australian jazz musician James Morrison referred to The Idea of North as "the best contemporary a cappella group in the country", and in 2005 the group were awarded Best Jazz Album and Best Jazz Song in the Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards.
