The Humbleweeds were formed in winter 2002/03 in mid-ulster, northern Ireland. The humbleweeds are Joseph Heaney (Guitarist, Songwriter, right channel vocals & lyricist) Mick O’Kane (Bass, Keyboard, Songwriter and Lead Vocals) Stephen McCusker (Drums & Percussion) and Barry Hassan (Guitarist, Synth, Harmonica and left Channel vocals) and are multi-instrumentalists. To date the humbleweeds have released 3 Ep’s. Ep1 (2003) received airplay on student union radio and BBC radio and bagged the band a slot in Ireland premier independent music festival. The following year saw the humbleweeds release EP2 with the lead track, leaving now, being included on a chromium records, Liverpool compilation “UK Top 20 Unsigned Bands” that was widely distributed. The Ep also received loads of radio play around Northern Ireland and England. EP3 saw the band build a studio in their practice hall to record their third EP themselves. Lead track ‘Absence’ being a huge fan favourite and received reviews in hotpress and alternative ulster to name a few. The humbleweeds are currently writing and recording for their 4th EP.
