The History of Dogs is Butthole Surfers guitarist Paul Leary's solo album from 1991. The cover features a dog in a blonde wig, and Paul wearing the same wig on the back. It features demented synths, psychedelic guitar playing, and strange political lyrics that seem as relevant today as they were then. Less chaotic than his work with the Butthole Surfers, Leary's solo album is rich in his signature acid-soaked guitar solos, and reveals the impressive and unconventional songwriting abilities of one of the most innovative guitarists of his day. The album features such classics as "The Birds Are Dying", "How Much Longer", and "Too Many People".
