The Heart of Everything is the fourth full-length studio album by the Dutch symphonic metal band Within Temptation, released in mid-March 2007. Unlike the band's previous albums, The Heart of Everything is to be released in the United States.

The track "What Have You Done" is the first single for the album, and was released in January 2007. In addition to lead singer Sharon den Adel, the track features guest singer Keith Caputo from hard rock American band Life of Agony, the band's video for What Have You Done was recently released and can be viewed on their myspace page.
The song "Our Solemn Hour" takes samples from Winston Churchill's "Be Ye Men of Valor" speech.

The album debuted at #1 in their home country, a first for the band. In the rest of Europe the album performed well, where it reached the top 10 in Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany and Finland. According to Mediatraffic, the album sold 50,000 copies in their first week where it debuted at #38. This is the first time any Dutch act ever charted within the United World Chart.
