The Haunted Carousel is a 3-D adventure game for PC about Nancy Drew, the famous fictional sleuth. These interactive games are for mystery fans age 10 and up. It was developed by Her Interactive and distributed by Infogrames. The is based on the Nancy Drew book of the same name, #72 in the original series.

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

The main plot of the story is that Paula Santos, the park owner, is asking Nancy for help. Why? Because there are mysterious 'hauntings' happening to the carousel. The carousel is turning on and off at night by itself, and its lead horse is missing, in which there were rumored to be stolen jewels hidden. A roller coaster in the park has also stopped suddenly, resulting in a lawsuit. The park is currently shut down for maintenance.

Nancy Drew - You have to play as her to find out who is "haunting" the carousel and shut down the roller coaster.

Joy Trent - She chews pencils, keeps a machine in her office called "Miles the Magnificent Memory Machine" which as made by her father, barely remembers her childhood. Her father was once the co-manager of the park along with Paula Santos and she blames Paula for her father's death.

Harlan Bishop - An ex-con, he is the park's security guard. He has a New Jersey accent and is kind but also very evasive at times.

Ingrid Corey - Chief engineer of the park. She believes the park is "haunted". She is very meticulous in her food choices and is shown to have an unusual amount of spending money.

Elliott Chen - Head of the art direction at the park and a procrastinator.

Paula Santos - The person who hired you on the job. An unseen character.

Bess Marvin and George Fayne - Unseen characters who dispense clues and advice over the phone and computer.

Frank and Joe Hardy (The Hardy Boys) - Another pair of unseen characters who aid Nancy in the game.
