The Green Ray (French: Le Rayon vert) is a 1986 film by Éric Rohmer. It is released as Summer in North America. The film stars Marie Rivière, Rosette, Béatrice Romand, Carita and Vincent Gauthier. It is based on the novel of the same name by Jules Verne. It was shot in France on 16mm film and much of the dialogue is improvised.

The film won the FIPRESCI Prize and the Golden Lion at the 1986 Venice Film Festival.

The story is linked with the The central character, Delphine, who looks for the greater love, is submitted to a kind of initiatory itinerary where she must choose between remaining solitary or go against her convictions and hopes. She becomes convinced that when she sees the "emerald flash" that sometimes accompanies the setting sun, she will find love. In the end, she gets her wish.
