[edit] Trivia

  • The part where Jerri opens up her fathers closet and a Klan uniform is hanging on the door is based on writer Stephen Colbert's real-life sister-in-law. When they went through her grandfather's possessions after his death, they found KKK uniforms.
  • The dogs that were supposed to be angrily devouring Guy Blank were in fact very friendly, and they had to cut that scene together as the dogs were "licking him to death."
  • Greg Hollimon was completely nude.
  • A stand-in played Guy Blank in the funeral scenes, since Roberto Gari refused to act inside a coffin.
  • According to Stephen Colbert in the DVD Commentary, this is the episode that made his family stop watching. (Colbert's father and two of his brothers were killed in a plane crash when the actor was only 10. This episode deals with the death of a patriarch in a very irreverent way.)
  • In the DVD commentary, it is revealed that some of Jerri's eccentric phrasing (as in this episode's, "This was this one time...") resulted from typos in the script that the Strangers crew decided to leave in.
  • Not counting the opening scene in the sack(shot from the waist down), the final dance sequence is the only time in the series in which Guy Blank is shown moving, as he dances with Jerri.
