The Glad Game
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Glad Game is a game for the optimist. It is the power to see good in everything and everyone. The title character in the novel Pollyanna made up this game. She would play it whenever she felt down about life, and found this was a helpful way to remind her of the things that she could do, and not to worry about the things she couldn't.
"The Glad Game" also refers to a Parker Brothers board game inspired by Pollyanna. The game debuted in 1915 and went through a number of different versions before being discontinued in the 1960's.
[edit] Cultural References
The cartoon Family Guy references the Glad Game in the episode Stu and Stewie's Excellent Adventure of Season 4. The character Stewie Griffin attempts to get the future version of himself to play this game. The things Stewie states make him glad include: A pinwheel, a big wedge of cake from the fair, a doo-dad for his hat, and the first cut into a fresh piece of construction paper.
