[edit] Plot
Kirsten's father, Caleb Nichol, comes for a visit along with his new girlfriend, twenty-four-year-old Gabrielle. Kirsten finds her job in jeopardy, while Sandy considers making a change and moving to Berkeley. Much to Ryan's disappointment, Luke decides he wants a second chance with Marissa...and Marissa is reluctant to agree. She chooses Ryan in the end, but it's too late because Ryan is making out with Gabrielle in the pool house at Caleb's birthday party. Marissa lets Luke be her "first". Summer gets Seth to invite her to the party where she uses him to meet rich older men. When he complains and tells her that those people don't know her like he does, proving it by reciting an old poem of hers, she kisses him and leaves.
[edit] Quotes
Seth: Is it twisted to find my potential grandma really hot?
Ryan: Not when she looks like that.
Caleb: You're not serious. You're still smoking the weed, aren't you?
Kirsten: Dad!
Seth: Daddy smoked weed?
Kirsten: Out now. Private conversation.
Seth: Ryan, guess who's a stoner!
Seth: (about Luke and Marissa) They've been going out since the fifth grade.
Gabrielle: The fifth grade? She's known that guy since he's been eating paste.
Seth: I think he still does.
[edit] Trivia
- Summer's poem Seth mentioned "I Wish I Was a Mermaid" would later be revealed that the poem was not Summer's at all, but was Taylor Townsend's poem instead in The Case of the Franks.
