The General Directorate for State Security Investigations

Formerly called "The Political Police" (البوليس السياسى) before the 1952 revolution. It played a major role in maintaining the regimes of presidents Nasser an Sadat. It produced many Ministers of Interior.^{[citation needed]}

It's official name is "The General Directorate for State Security Investigations" or simply "The State Security Investigatin Department" (مباحث أمن الدولة). It reports to the Minister of Interior and responsible for the internal state security to equal the FBI. It is wrongly translated as "The General Directorate of State Security Service".
