[edit] Plot
At jury hall. Again. Sandy meets Ryan. Sandy says the Newport Group drops all the charges against Ryan. Ryan can leave after probation hearing, which takes 30 to 60 days. On the other hand, Luke gets free. Sandy explains that Luke has no prior, his record is clear, and he has a guardian, but obviously Ryan's condition is completely different. Sandy promises Ryan to find his mother in order to get him out of jail. But Ryan does not want his mom.
Back at the Cohen’s. Kirsten prepares for a 'Newpsie’ convention. Seth, who is grounded, again expresses his disagreement of not adopting Ryan. Kirsten argues that Ryan is a bad influence and the Cohen’s are not his family.
In juvie, an inmate beats Ryan because they collided with each other before.
The Newpsies are discussing the theme of the party. Kirsten takes a Newpsie break, and finds Seth about to sneak out to visit Ryan. Seth invites her to come and Kirsten consents. Seth then invites Marissa, who cadged Luke to talk to her by phone before. Marissa seems to want to get back with Luke after Ryan rejected her in the model home. Marissa turns down Seth's invitation.
Kirsten sees how unpopular Ryan is at the juvie hall, after Ryan is beaten up to protect Kirsten. Kirsten brings him home to ensure his safety. But Kirsten still does not want to adopt Ryan. The only way to solve the problem is to find Ryan's mom, Dawn.
Kirsten has to take Ryan to set up the casino night after Sandy has to leave. Marissa and Luke are there too. Marissa wants to talk to Luke but he is still mad at her. Ryan apologizes for what's happened and wants to take back what he said at the model home but Marissa agrees with what he said that night.
Sandy overhears Julie blaming him for bringing Ryan, a criminal, near her home. Sandy feels offended and says that Ryan is from Chino, not far from where Julie grew up in Riverside. Julie expresses to Jimmy her anger at Sandy of being told where she is from and deprecates Kirsten's decision of bringing Ryan home. Jimmy asks Julie to leave Kirsten alone because she is paying the Coopers' bills.
Private investigators find Dawn. Sandy meets her and takes her to the Cohen’s to meet Ryan. At the dinner, Ryan criticises Dawn for how she ruins his life. Ryan is sore when Dawn describes their old lives. Dawn then promises to give Ryan a better life. Ryan is touched, and is willing to take the first step.
Kirsten and Seth invite Dawn to the party after Ryan and Dawn have a nice walk. Vegas Night! Dawn is OK and does not drink when Ryan is there, but when he leaves to talk to Marissa she takes alcohol from a barman. Marissa blesses Ryan for his new life, and leaves to talk to Luke. Luke is still annoyed that Marissa left Holly's to go the model home. Ryan assures Luke that Marissa chose him. Luke seems to believe him, as he goes back to Marissa again.
The luckiest guy turns out to be Seth. Seth gives superstitious Summer good luck and finally earns a moment with her. Although, she still doesn't know his name.
Meanwhile, Julie tells Sandy about the loan and he is displeased. He blames his wife for not discussing it with him. Kirsten assures him it was only a loan. Jimmy goes to apologize but Sandy is angry at him for interrupting their 'private conversation'.
Dawn starts having bad luck and cannot refuse to have alcohol again. Kirsten warns her not to drink too much, but Dawn doesn't listen. Dawn finally ruins the opportunity to have a new start with Ryan when she falls onto a waiter in her drunken state. She leaves Ryan with Kirsten because Kirsten is a good mother rather than a mess. Dawn waves to Ryan and leaves.
Kirsten finally allows Ryan to stay. Although Dawn leaves, Ryan is happy.
[edit] Quotes
Sandy: Ladies!
Julie:Sandy, hi! How are you? Are you holding up okay? That poor boy. He’s locked up, yes?
Sandy:Yes, temporarily.
Julie: Well, nobody blames you for bringing him into the community. You’re so trusting, Sandy. [went inside]
Taryn: Hey, Julie. The house looks good. I thought you said it was burnt down?
Julie: Oh, not that one. One of Kirsten's developments. Lucky she has so many.
Sandy: Well, I should be off. Got to find the next kid to jeopardize the community. Maybe a black kid. Or an Asian kid. Bye, ladies.
Taryn: It can’t be Monte Carlo night. Cotillion is coming up. And don’t you remember our amendment? No two black tie events in the same month.
Kirsten: What do you think you are going?
Seth: What are you doing here?
Kirsten: Taking a Newpsie break.
Summer: [only wearing a bra on top] Can I try it on?
Marissa: Hey Summer, my dad's home, you know.
Summer: You say that like it's a bad thing.
Marissa: Oh, gross!
Summer: Your dad's always home these day. What's up with that?
Marissa: [to phone] Hey Luke. It's me. I just want to talk. So call me. Um. Please.
Summer: Still hasn't called you back? He was in lockup. Maybe he's into dudes now.
[Marissa used pillow to hit Summer]
Summer: [to Marissa] God, he loves you. He got in a fight, and burnt a house down over you. That's hot. What's more do you need?
Marissa: how about talking to me?
Summer: Oh, he will get over it. You can't really think you are into that Chino kid.
[Jimmy and Seth going to Marissa's room]
Jimmy: So, how was your mother?
Seth: Just...married.
[Jimmy opened the door]
Jimmy: Marissa, you got company.
[Seth and Jimmy saw bra-top Summer]
Jimmy: Sorry.
Seth: Oh my god...Hi Summer. I'm, um, Seth Cohen, I lives right next door. I...
Marissa: What's up?
Seth: What? Yes, what is up? I'm going to visit Ryan. I thought, you know, maybe you'd like to come. I'm sure he'd love to see you.
Marissa: Uh, what's that, Seth? Did you say you need a ride to a Star Wars convention?
Seth: The Star Wars convention? I'm sorry, her top was off. You couldn't at least have said X-Men for me?
Sandy: [about Kirsten taking Ryan out of Juvie] I never knew you to be an impulse shopper.
Sandy:[After overhearing Julie criticizing Sandy took criminal Ryan near her home] Morning ladies, mind if I join you? May I?
[grabbed the top of Julie's muffin]
Sandy: I couldn't help to overhear.
Julie: Oh. I hope you're not...
Sandy: Mad? Offended? No. I am disappointed. And frankly I’m a little surprised. This is supposed to be a community that welcomes outsiders. I mean, me, I’m all the way from the Bronx. And you’re from, from what, from Riverside, right? Which is not that different really from where Ryan’s from.
[cell phone rang]
Sandy: Excuse me for a minute. Hello? Yeah, Dawn. That's her. Good job, OK, bye.
[hung up]
Sandy: Thanks for the muffin.
Julie: You will not believe what Sandy Cohen said to me. He basically called me white trash. He said I was from Riverside.
Jimmy: Honey. You are from Riverside.
Julie: It was his tone.
Dawn: At least talk to me.
Ryan: What are you even doing here?
Dawn: I came...for you.
Ryan: Why? What do you want from me? You left a note. A note.
Dawn: Okay, let me explain...
Ryan: You abandoned me. You threw me out. You just took off.
Dawn: I know, honey. I was...and A.J., and...the drinking, and...It's going to be different now.
Ryan: That's what you said when we moved from Fresno after dad got arrested.
Dawn: I am gonna be different now. We have a chance to start over bab. I, um, we have never had people like them, you know, who, who want to help us.
Ryan: Right. So someone offered you a nice place to stay and suddenly you are wrong about the mum thing.
Dawn: I didn't know what I was doing when I married your dad. I was too young when I had your brother. But with you...You were always the smart one. You know? The good one. When you got arrested...I knew I'd failed, and...you were my last hope. I should go.
Ryan: Wait.
[Ryan avoided Dawn when she wanted to approach him]
Dawn: You never forgive me kido?
Ryan: Let's just go slow huh.
Dawn: [tearful] OK. Do what if you want, I am not going to lose you again.
Dawn: I'm an embarrassment to my son.
Kirsten: Welcome to my world.
Kirsten: [after Julie found out Kirsten lent Jimmy a loan] I love your dress.
Julie: You do? It's yours!
Seth: [Seth picked up dices for Summer] Hi, Summer. Seth Cohen.
Summer: I'm superstitious. Blow in these.
Seth: [stared at Summer's boobs] What?
Summer: [showed the dices] Blow.
[Seth blew the dices. Summer threw them and got good result]
Summer: Good! [Turned to Cohen] Do it again!
Summer: [good result again] You're not going anywhere, Sid.
Seth: Seth.
Summer: Whatever!
Summer: Rabbit’s foot? Vamanos?
Seth: [to Ryan] By the end of the night, she [Summer] might know my first name.
Marissa: You can't just not talk to me.
Luke: Watch me.
Dawn: So... you caught me.
Kirsten: You can't do this. You're his mother.
Dawn: I'm a mess. Not a mother.
Kirsten: You have a responsibility!
Dawn: I'm being responsible. I'm not for this. I can't care anybody else. I don't have what you got. The way your husband looks at you, your kid looks at you. Even my kid. Like, no matter what, you're gonna make everything okay. You hold your family together. I tear mine apart.
Kirsten: You can't walk away.
Dawn: Why? This will be the first good thing I ever did for him. This way...he ends up with a real mom. Take care of him, okay? He deserves it.
