The Fureys

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Fureys are an Irish male folk band. They also sometimes record as the The Fureys with Davey Arthur.

The group formed in 1974 and consisted initially of four brothers [1]. They mixed their traditional Irish musical roots with mainstream Anglo-American pop. The band later met Davey Arthur and had their biggest commercial successes working with him.

The single 'When You Were Sweet Sixteen reached number fourteen in the British charts, whilst they also had two top forty albums called "Golden Days" and "At the End of the Day". [2]

Other notable songs include 'Gallipoli' 'The Red Rose Cafe' and 'The Green Fields of France'. As of January 2007, the band is still recording and touring.
