The Forbidden Hat of Gold is a season two episode of Courage the Cowardly Dog.

Plot

Horst, Eustace's dead brother left a map to Eustace leading to a golden hat. He takes Courage and Muriel with him(reluctantly)to a tropical island where he tries to steal the sacred golden hat. He gets a warning via signpost but typically ignores it. They run afoul of a group of monks, the guardians of the golden hat, who plan to sacrifice Muriel to a gigantic living statue. However, vanity proves to be their undoing as Courage presents them with glamorous coats, and as this was forbidden for them, their Rock God is destroyed, taking the island in the process. Courage and Muriel escape, and Eustace finally manages to get the golden hat. But when he puts it on, he turns to stone, perhaps what Horst intended to happen.
