The Flowers of Romance (song)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"The Flowers of Romance" is a song by Sex Pistols, although not a "song" in the technical sense.
Only ever performed live as a set-opener, and apparently never performed the same way twice, it usually consisted of the group improvising wildly, while Johnny Rotten made apparently random vocal statements. The song served as a clear indication to the audience that the group were on-stage and ready to play.
Two different live recordings of the song are included on disc three of the Sex Pistols Box Set, released in 2002. The first recording actually sounds like a structured song, while the second is random improvising.
The group also performed a brief version of the song as an introduction to "Anarchy in the U.K.", when making their first television appearance on Granada TV's So It Goes, September 1, 1976.
