This 1979 48-minute-long Halloween special featured Fred and Barney on a spoof of Let's Make a Deal. They win a trip to a haunted local and meet the Stone-Age equivalents of Dracula and Frankenstein.
[edit] Story
After winning the star prize on the gameshow "Make a Deal or Don't", Fred, Barney, Wilma and Betty win a trip to Rocksylvania, where they will stay at the castle of the Legendary Count Rockula and attend the Monster Bash. Soon after they arrive, a deformed hotel chauffeur named Igor takes them in a hotel car to the hotel, and during the journey, he tells the Flintstones and Rubbles about the Legend of Count Rockula, who was last seen working on a Frankenstone monster to scare away some werewolves, before disappearing for the next five-hundred years.
At the hotel, the manager Mr. Silika, dressed as Count Rockula, greets them and takes them to their rooms, where they find their party costumes. In their wardrobes, Fred, Wilma, Barney and Betty find costumes of Rockula, Rockula's Bride, Frankenstone, and Mrs. Frankenstone respectively. However, Fred and Barney accidentally pull a stone bat off the wall and fall down a trapdoor which leads them to Count Rockula's secret lab, where they find a sleeping Frankenstone (they think it's a dummy), and manage to get back up to Barney's terrace by climbing some vines outside the lab window. Fred, Barney, Wilma and Betty then depart for the Bash.
Unfortunately, Fred leaves the lab window open, and a lightning bolt strikes the machines inside, transmitting enough power into Frankenstone to bring him to life. Frankenstone then awakes, and finds his way into a secret crypt, where he knocks on a coffin and finds his master: Count Rockula himself. Frankenstone then informs an annoyed Rockula that the two of them have been asleep for five-hundred years, but they hear the noise coming from the ballroom, and go to investigate.
During the ball, though, Fred and Barney fall asleep due to travelling all day, and Wilma and Betty decide to accompany them to bed. They enter their rooms just as Rockula and Frankenstone enter the corridor from behind a grandfather sundyle. Shocked and angry to see so many intruders in his castle, Rockula transforms into a bat to prove that he is not a party guest, and with Frankenstone's help, succeeds in frightening the guests, who immediately depart the castle. To make sure no one else is inside, Rockula and Frankenstone decide to check the rooms.
Fred, still hungry, wakes up from his sleep and tells Wilma that he's going for a midnight snack. He leaves just as Rockula and Frankenstone look inside their room from behind a tapestry. Rockula immediately mistakes the sleeping Wilma as his bride, and plans to take her away. Fred makes it to the dining room, where he finds Barney, who was equally hungry, and they both tuck in.
Meanwhile, Count Rockula, as a bat, enters Wilma's room, transforms, and greets her. But Wilma mistakes Rockula for Mr. Silika, and demands that he leave immediately. But Rockula, believing Wilma to be his bride with amnesia, takes her away with him to the crypt. In the dining room, Barney starts taunting a Frankenstone statue with a drumstick, but he doesn't notice the statue turn around to reveal the real Frankenstone, who snatches the drumstick and leaves, leaving Barney speechless, but convinced that it was his imagination. Fred and Barney then decide to go back to bed, but Fred sees that Wilma is gone, so he speaks to Barney and Betty, who also claim to have no idea where Wilma is. Worried for Wilma, Fred and Betty go off to check all the rooms while Barney speaks to Mr. Silika.
In the crypt, Rockula tries unsuccessfully to seduce Wilma, who still believes him to be Mr. Silika, which makes Rockula angry. Frankenstone then comes in, but Wilma believes him to be another crazy party attendant. Finally angered enough, Rockula turns into a bat and demonstrates his power, convincing Wilma at last. But Wilma claims to not be Rockula's bride, but may just resemble her. Rockula examines her with a torch, and agrees, but decides to make Wilma his new bride. Wilma then explains that she is already married to a Fred Flintstone. Frustrated, Rockula immediately plots to have Fred killed by beheading him, but Wilma manages to escape by tricking Rockula and Frankenstone into believing that the police have stormed the castle, long enough for her to lock the door and hide before Frankenstone uses his supernatural strength to break the door down. Rockula and Frankenstone then split up to find Wilma.
Meanwhile, Fred, Barney and Betty reunite. Barney claims to have not been able to find anyone, just like Fred and Betty. Betty suggests they look outside, but run into Frankenstone after opening a door. They run for it, but Rockula scares them into the basement, where they try looking for Wilma. Hearing Rockula and Frankenstone approaching, the trio hide in a barrel each, not knowing that Wilma is already hiding in the fourth barrel. Rockula and Frankenstone pass them, and Fred and Wilma reunite. Wilma warns Fred that Rockula wants to make her into a widow, so they try to escape, but Fred finds himself unable to get out of his barrel, due to having eaten too much. Fred orders Wilma, Barney and Betty to leave him behind and run. Rockula and Frankenstone then return to the barrels, and Rockula tells Frankenstone to search them. In a hilarious moment, Frankenstone picks up one barrel, which easily slips off the crouching Fred. Frankenstone just says "Emtpy", and puts the barrel back on Fred, without noticing him, and accidentally knocks the barrel away with his bottom. Unfortunately, Frankenstone throws the second barrel into the wall, where it hits a werewolf mask which falls on Barney's head. Even worse, Fred's barrel hits the coffin Rockula was searching, and breaks, revealing Fred to Rockula. Fred tries to convince Rockula that he is a castle inspector who works several jobs even in the middle of the night, but Rockula refuses to believe him, and moves in for the kill when Barney, wearing the werewolf mask, intervenes and scares Rocklua away with a roar.
However, once again, Fred, Barney and Betty realize that they have lost Wilma again, and during another search, Fred goes to look in a mummy case, where the mummy comes to life and prepares to kill Fred. Barney tries to scare it with the mask, but the mummy knocks him out and drags Fred into the coffin. As Betty curses at it, the mummy unbandages and reveals itself to be Wilma, who found a secret staircase leading to the first floor through the mummy case.
Fred, Wilma, Barney and Betty try to creep out of the castle, but Rockula and Frankenstone scare them back into Fred's room. Rockula tries to make a deal with Fred, but Fred refuses, stating that making a deal is what got them into the mess. Frustrated, Rockula sends Frankenstone to bring him the spare key to Fred's room. In a desperate attempt to escape, Fred makes a rope out of the bedsheets and tries to climb down, despite Wilma claiming to have a better idea. Unfortunately, Fred lands on Frankenstone, who was waiting for him, but is able to climb back up in time. Wilma then reveals her alternate exit in the form of the tapestry Rockula used to take her away. Delighted, they run through.
Frankenstone returns with the key, and is sent to guard the door should Fred try to climb down again. Rockula enters the room, only to find nobody. Fortunately, Fred creeps to the door and manages to lock Rockula inside the room, but they are stopped once again from escaping by Frankenstone, and they retreat to Barney's room. Fred then remembers that they have one last hope of escaping, by using the trapdoor to the secret lab, but he doesn't remember how he sprang the trap. As they walk around trying numerous ornaments, Frankenstone finally manages to break the door down, along with Rockula, who escaped from Fred's room. Cornered, Fred bravely guards his friends, declaring that he will not let Rockula near Wilma, and will even fight him head-on. Rockula and Frankenstone accept Fred's challenge, and take one last step, unintentionally stepping onto the trapdoor. Angry and fed up, Fred takes the stone bat from the wall and prepares to hit Rockula with it when Rockula and Frankenstone suddenly fall through the trapdoor and into the lab. Seeing their chance, Fred, Barney, Wilma and Betty escape from the castle and flee in their car.
Unfortunately, Rockula pursues them as a bat, and attempts to keep the gates closed to stop them from escaping. But Barney plays a trick and does his "Rooster Imitation", fooling Rockula into believing that the sun is rising. Giving up at last, Rockula turns back into a bat and returns to his castle. Fred, Barney, Wilma and Betty then drive to the train station, board the train, and return safely to Bedrock.
Wilma then prepares a treat for the family, and Fred, Barney and Betty wait patiently in the lounge. Unfortunately, a bat flies into the kitchen and greets Wilma, who is shocked to see Rockula in her home. Apparently, Rockula has flown all the way to Bedrock from Rocksylvania to plead with her to marry him. After begging her and promising her with the life of a Queen, Wilma accepts Rockula's proposal, albeit with a "few" conditions, such as doing the shopping, taking Pebbles (her daughter) to school, no sleeping all day, mowing the lawn, repairing the roof and gate. Before Wilma can finish, Rockula quickly leaves the Flintstone household, deciding that he prefers a life with someone who truly loves him.
Fred, Barney and Betty then come into the kitchen and congratulate Wilma on finally ridding them all of Rockula. Having won the battle, the four friends exclaim "Yabba-Dabba-Doo!".
