The Flats, Woodbridge
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Flats is an informal neighborhood located in the southeastern end of Woodbridge, Connecticut, in the valley that runs between the hilly western part of town and the rock formation known as West Rock. The Flats also borders the city of New Haven, and specifically the neighborhood of Westville.
The Flats is Woodbridge's main commercial section, with mixed-use residential and retail zoning. CT Route 63 and CT Route 69 are the primary roads in this neighborhood, which form major north-south arterials between New Haven and northern suburbs like Bethany and the Naugatuck River Valley region beyond. CT Route 15/The Wilbur Cross Parkway runs east-west through The Flats to intersect with CT-63 and CT-69.
In the 1950-60 era there were two restaurants located in the flats area. They were on either side of The Merritt Pkwy on Whalley Ave. One was the Three Judges (named after the 3 judges who hid from the English in a stone cave on West Rock. The other was D'Andrea's.
