"The Flame" is a power ballad that brought Cheap Trick out of a mini-slump.
The song was released on the album Lap of Luxury, and reached number 1 on the American Billboard Hot 100 in 1988.
The song is a statement between two people who truly love each other. They're saying that they will always be there for each other. Their love will never end and through all the ups and downs of life, they'll still be there, going through it together.
Although the song is Cheap Trick's number one single, it has rarely been covered, unlike their other hits "Surrender" and "I Want You to Want Me".
