The Fire Within (Le feu follet) is a French 1963 film directed by Louis Malle and starring Maurice Ronet as Alain Leroy, a recovering alcoholic living in Versailles who suffers from depression. He decides to end his life, but first he goes to visit his friends in Paris one last time. The movie also stars Jeanne Moreau, who worked with Ronet in Malle's Elevator to the Gallows, as well as Alexandra Stewart, Bernard Noel, Lena Skerla, Hubert Deschamps and Yvonne Clech. The music of Erik Satie was used for the score.
Leonard Maltin gives the film 3.5 stars (out of four) and calls it "probably Malle's best early film."[1]
