[edit] Plot

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

The story concerns the 168-year old Fu Manchu (see also Sax Rohmer), who must find the ingredients to the elixir vitae, which gives him extended life. Standing in his way is his archnemesis, Nayland Smith (also Sellers), now retired. The two are "kindred spirits" and "ying to my yang." Featured in the movie is Sid Caesar and David Tomlinson (better known for his role as George Banks, the father from Mary Poppins.) The film was neither a critical nor a commercial success. It was released less than a month after Sellers' death.

[edit] Trivia

  • Early in the film, Burt Kwouk -- Sellers' longtime co-star in The Pink Panther films -- makes a cameo appearance. When he appears, Fu Manchu recognizes him from somewhere.

Helen Mirren also plays a major part as a seductive policewoman, who joins Dr. Fu Manchu's side.
