The Examiner is the daily newspaper of eastern Jackson County, Missouri, including Independence and Blue Springs.
The Examiner was first published in 1898 by Col. William Southern. The official Examiner website was launched in 1998 and is updated on a daily basis.
The paper's current publisher is Ben F. Wier, Jr., the executive editor is Dale Brendel and the editorial page editor is Jeff Fox.
