The episode opens with Krista emerging from her blood ritual. During the ritual, she sees her brother Zach, who told her that she had to finish what she started. She also sees Boone and his hostage, a waitress, whom he is taking to Louisiana to meet Damek, the last pure blood from the House of Armaya. After the ritual, Chase's ex-husband, Frederick, reveals that Krista was in the ritual for more than 5 hours, the previous record was 27 minutes. He knows that something must be going on with Krista for her to have been under so long. He asks Krista if her problem is that she doesn't want Boone found, or that she isn't accepting her new life as a vampire. Krista lies and tells him that she was intimate with Boone and doesn't want him hurt. At that moment, Chase barges in, and announces that they're leaving to find Boone. Once Krista leaves the room, Frederick looks down at the floor and finds one of the vials of serum Krista had injected after the ritual, but he doesn't say anything to Krista.

Meanwhile, Blade tracks down Vanessa, the woman that Krista delivered the mysterious duffel bag to a while back. Blade reveals that Vanessa's pregnant, but the baby shows up on an infrared scanner as not human. Blade believes the House of Chthon is paying her to carry a vampire baby. Before he can grab her to question her, a van pulls up and whisks Vanessa away. Marcus orders her sent to a safehouse in Berlin to deliver the "baby".

Chase and Krista track down Boone in Louisiana as he meets the Armayans and demands to meet Damek in person, offering up the waitress he kidnapped as a "gift". Boone and the Armayans are assaulted by Chase and Krista, and a gun battle ensues. During the battle, Boone runs off with the waitress and Krista follows. Boone gets cornered by Krista and rips the hostage's throat open and throws her toward Krista while he runs off. Krista freezes - she wants to save the woman, but at the same time, the bleeding woman triggers her thirst. Chase finds Krista on the stairs with the bleeding waitress, struggling with her thirst. Chase asks where Boone is, and slaps Krista for hesitating, which snaps Krista out of her dilemma. Boone, meanwhile, escapes to a bathroom with another Armayan whom he shoves in the doorway just as Chase shoots through the door. Thinking she has killed Boone, Chase gets Krista and they leave.

Marcus is visited by Charlotte (Emily Hirst), a pureblood from the House of Chthon. Charlotte reveals that she doesn't trust him and believes he is lying to her. She tells him that she knows about Boone and Damek, and that if the Armayans find out that the House of Chthon has been killing Armayans in their pursuit to perfect Aurora, a full-scale vampire war will break out, and that Chthon will lose, unless Aurora works. Marcus assures Charlotte that Aurora will work.

Krista goes to Blade for more serum. Blade shows Krista a snapshot of Vanessa and she reveals that Marcus had her deliver something to her, and that Vanessa asked Krista to "thank her doctor". Blade tells Krista that he is going to Berlin to retrieve Vanessa, with help from vampire hunters there. Krista is worried about who else knows that she's helping him. Blade tells Krista he needs a sample of Aurora by the time he returns from Germany.

Back at the House of Chthon, Krista steals blueprints to the sewer system beneath the building, determined to get a vial of Aurora. Meanwhile, Blade arrives in Germany and is given a bag of weapons to use in his search for the pregnant Vanessa. He tracks down the safehouse, kidnapping the woman and blowing the building up. In the ensuing explosion, Chase is heard screaming just before detonation of the explosives, and is presumed dead.

Charlotte orders Glynnis, one of her assistants, to begin covertly auditing Marcus and everyone he's turned (which includes Krista). She believes he is lying about Aurora, and wants to know the truth.

Krista breaks into the lab and steals a vial of Aurora. As she is escapes in the sewer, she is confronted by Marcus. She tells him that she stole it because she wanted to feel the sun on her face again. He tells her that it doesn't really work, and that Fritz would've started decomposing within a few days if she hadn't killed him. Marcus tells Krista that she must accept her new life as a vampire and be with him, forever, or she can die with the others. Reluctantly, she relinquishes the vaccine and takes Marcus' hand.
