The End is the final episode of what at the time (1995) was advertised as the last series of Absolutely Fabulous, Series 3. It is the story of protagonists Edina Monsoon and Patsy Stone attempting to create a life independent of one another.

Patsy relocates to New York City to work as a fashion director of a top fashion magazine, and Edina takes up residence with a New Age commune in the English country where she attends workshops on how to "find herself." In the course of the workshop, one of the teachers "channels" the spirit of a dead woman named "Maria Sanchez."

Edina soon grows tired of the New Age commune, saying, "How did they expect to find Nirvana? They couldn't even find any decent furniture!" Patsy finds that she cannot fend for herself in New York.

The two soon find that they cannot live without one another, and after only three days apart they are reunited in Edina's Holland Park house where they celebrate over a glass of champagne. The episode ends with a flash forward 25 years later wherein Edina and Patsy as senior citizens are still living together, and are still alcoholics.
