The Dropper is an album by experimental jazz fusion trio Medeski Martin & Wood. The title "The Dropper" is a reference to LSD consumption, often described as 'dropping' acid. In contrast to other Medeski Martin and Wood albums, "The Dropper" is less form oriented as it flows from song to song segment to segment. There is a great contrast betwwen dark and bright, empty and full, on this album, representing the full range of emotional intensity of an acid trip. The climax of the album occurs right after the dissonant "Bone Digger" in the beginning of "Bleu Note" when for a moment everything comes together in a moment of brightness only to fall apart shortly after. A masterpiece in it's own right, "The Dropper" is a must listen for any true acidhead.
