The Devonshire Regiment was an infantry regiment of the British Army. This regiment began its military career in 1685 as the Colonel the Duke of Beaufort's Musketeers. For several years known by the name of its Commanding officer. In 1751 it became the 11th regiment of Foot. 1782 saw it become the 11th (North Devonshire) Regiment, retaining this name until 1881.
