The Definitive Collection is a greatest hits compilation album of all the singles released by Swedish pop group ABBA. It was released in 2001 and consisted of 2 discs: the first one featured singles from 1972 up to 1979 and the second disc featured singles from 1979 up to 1982. All the songs are in chronological order. The only exceptions are the single "Thank You For The Music", which was released in 1977 and is on the 2nd disc and the bonus tracks, which appear at the end of the collection. The bonus tracks are: "Ring Ring (1974 Remix, Single Version)" and "Voulez-Vous (Extended Remix, 1979 US Promo)". In Australia, two further bonus tracks were added: "Rock Me" and "Hasta Mañana". All in all, the album features 35 songs plus 2 (or 4) bonus tracks.
This double album replaced an old collection of ABBA's singles titled The Singles: The First Ten Years, released in 1982.
A DVD titled The Definitive Collection was also released. It features all of ABBA's videos plus 5 bonus videos and a picture gallery.
In 2003, the album was ranked number 178 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. [1]
