The Declaration
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Declaration is a weekly tabloid-format newsmagazine edited and constructed by students at the University of Virginia. Regular features in the Dec--as it is affectionately known--tackle political and cultural issues on the local, national and international scale. There are movie and album reviews, discursive tracts of creative non-fiction, political critiques, and even the occasional interview. Writing styles range from straight news to edgy satire and everything in between. The Dec is unafraid to be provocative and irreverent as it examines matters pertinent to the student body and the readership at large.
In print since 1973, the Dec has served as an alternative forum for students, faculty and alumni to voice opinions and analyze phenomena of varying levels of historical import.
