The Damnation Game is a horror novella by Clive Barker, published in 1985. Barker's first novel, it was written just after finishing the first trilogy of Books of Blood.

The Damnation Game is a Faustian story of selling souls to evil in return for great wealth and immortality. It touches on transgressive topics such as incest, cannibalism, and self-mutilation in a frank and detailed manner.

Marty Strauss, a Londoner ex-boxer, has always believed that his life was ruled by Fortune (or Unfortune). He is addicted to gambling, and is forced join a bank robbery attempt to repay a huge gambling debt. When the robbery fails, Strauss is arrested and sentenced to jail.

After long, painful years in Wandworth Jail, he is visited by Bill Toy, who says he is the special bodyguard of Joseph Whitehead, one of the wealthiest men of Europe. Saying that Whitehead is looking for a boxer who is addicted to gambling, Toy offers to get Strauss out of jail as long as he accepts a bodyguard position. Strauss accepts because it is the only way to finish his agony in jail. But he is unaware of what waits for him....
