The Curtains is the primary musical project of Chris Cohen, an American musician. The Curtains began in 2000 with Trevor Shimizu and Jamie Peterson who performed on the album Fast Talks. The next two albums, Flybys and Vehicles of Travel featured Cohen on guitar with Greg Saunier of Deerhoof (synthesizer) and Andrew Maxwell (drums).

After a long hiatus while Cohen performed with Deerhoof, in 2006 Cohen reformed The Curtains with another all new line-up including Nedelle and Annie Lewandowski. The album Calamity was released in late 2006 on Asthmatic Kitty Records.

Additionally, the group has collaborated with the Japanese folk orchestra Maher Shalal Hash Baz (to whom they have been compared artistically, and with whom they toured the West Coast in 2003) with whom they released the split CD Make Us Two Crayons on the Floor to document their tour together. Also, Cohen and other American guests performed on Maher Shalal Hash Baz' album Faux Depart.
