[edit] Plot
In the mid-80s, eccentric and alienated teenager Chance Marquis (Hilgenbrink) starts his sophomore year at a new high school. Never one to fit in or make friends easily, he is repeatedly harassed by the 'queer-hating' resident bully. Chance enlists two friends - a popular jock and a drag queen - to help him find any way to fit in and be accepted by his new school. Chance's year of self-discovery leads him to find strength in his own voice, both figuratively and literally, as he gains the courage to become the lead singer in a rock band. Through all his trials, he learns that as bizarre as his family and friends may seem, they form a foundation of strength and support that help him through the tough times.
