[edit] History

The Cox Family first began performing regularly together at fairs and festivals in 1976[1], though an earlier performance can be heard in the 1974 version of Broken Engagement which appears on Beyond the City (1995).

Their profile was raised considerably when they met Alison Krauss in the early 90s, who subsequently produced and appeared on a number of their albums.

In July 2000, shortly after recording 2 songs for the Coen Brothers film O Brother, Where Art Thou?, the family were dealt a blow when Willard Cox and his wife Marie were seriously injured in a traffic accident near their home in Cotton Valley, LA[2].
