The Convenient Marriage is a Georgian romance novel by Georgette Heyer. Horatia Winwood, a stammering girl barely out of the schoolroom, takes the place of her beautiful older sister in entering into a marriage of convenience with the wealthy Earl of Rule. Events are complicated when Rule's old enemy, Lord Lethbridge, takes an interest in his young bride.
The Convenient Marriage is the first of several Heyer romances where the hero and heroine are married early in the novel, and the plot follows their path to mutual love and understanding. Later examples include Friday's Child and April Lady.
