The Committee Theatre Company

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Committee Theatre Company is a project-driven theatre company based in New York that produces plays focusing on periods of historical transformation, on moments where forces coalesce to create change. The company defines their aesthetic as "Catastrophic Theatre," after Harold Barker's essays found in Arguments for a Theatre. Founded in 2002 by Artistic Director Ken Urban and Business Manager Ryan Rumage, the company has presented over 15 new plays, and focuses on the plays of Urban. They have also presented plays by Sarah Kane, Caridad Svich, Crystal Skillman and Peter Morris. Dylan McCullough and Judson Kniffen currently serve as the company's resident directors.
