The Coming is the first solo album released by former Leaders of the New School representative Busta Rhymes, in 1996 by Elektra Records. The Coming features rapping from Leaders of the New School members Milo In De Dance, Charlie Brown and Dinco D as well as many future Flip Mode Squad members. It also has guest rapping from Def Squad members Redman and Keith Murray as well as singing from Zhane. It has production from many famed producers and production teams such as DJ Scratch, Easy Mo Bee and The Ummah.

The Coming was a critical and commercial success for Busta Rhymes. It reached #6 on the Billboard 200 chart in 1996 and has since received a platinum certification from RIAA. All Music Guide gave at a near perfect 4.5 out of 5 star rating and awarded it an 'AMG Album Pick'. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AMG says that "Busta Rhymes has never had such an impressive showcase for his rhymes as he does on The Coming" [1]. It boasts the hit single "Woo Hah!! Got You All In Check" which reached #8 on The Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1996. It was nominated for a 1997 Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance [2] and Steve Huey of All Music Guide says that Woo Hah "catapulted [Busta Rhymes] into solo superstardom" [3]. It also ended up sporting another hit single, "It's a Party" featuring Zhane.

The title of The Coming "is drawn around an end-of-the-world theme, with its repeated emphasis on "there's...only [being] five years left" (foreshadowing "the coming" of the millennium)" [4].
