The Clan of the Cave Bear (film)

The Clan of the Cave Bear is a 1986 film based on the eponymous book by Jean M. Auel. It was directed by Michael Chapman and stars Daryl Hannah. The film follows Ayla (Hannah) as a Cro-Magnon (human) girl who was separated from her family, only to be found by a group of Neanderthals.
Dialogue is conducted mostly through a form of sign language, and translated for the audience with subtitles.
The film is considered to be a box-office flop, having cost US $15 million to produce and only brought in $1.9 million domestically. There was supposedly a sequel planned, but this never came into fruition.
