The Citadel, Montreal
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Citadel of Montreal was once a fortress used to defend the city and much smaller to the one in Quebec City.
The main fort was built by the French in 1690 and a cannon battery added in 1723.
The fort was demolished by the British in 1821 to allow for the extension of Rue Notre-Dame.
