The Cinematics are a Scottish band currently based in Glasgow. They formed in Glasgow in autumn 2003, although they already knew one another from their hometown of Dingwall. Scott Rinning (lead vocals, guitar) and Ross Bonney (drums) relocated to Glasgow for university, whilst the other two band members Ramsay Miller (lead guitar) and Adam Goemans (bass guitar) moved to Glasgow to attend music college. The band were signed by Lenny Johnson, head of A&R at TVT records in 2005 after playing at an "In the City" showcase gig in Manchester. The band cite their influences as ranging from The Clash to Talking Heads, and are making a name for themselves in supporting acts such as Editors, We Are Scientists and Snow Patrol. Enjoying success in the USA and continental Europe, as well as the UK, with their singles "Chase" and "Break", The Cinematics' latest single, "Keep Forgetting," was released in February 2007. Their long-awaited debut album "A Strange Education" was produced by Stephen Hague (New Order, Blur, Pet Shop Boys), was released on March 6.
