[edit] Production
The new mini series was greenlighted by E! Television Network early 2006. The show premiered on April 21st, 2006. The cable channel ordered eight episodes of the half-hour project that features Chelsea Handler -- the brazen Tonight Show With Jay Leno correspondent and star of Oxygen's Girls Behaving Badly --in taped spoofs, film shorts and field remote pieces, all framed by stand-up segments of her performing before a studio audience. In her act, Handler intermixes fearlessly honest comedy, ironic riffs and self-deprecation, satirizing everything from reality TV and one-night stands to Hugh Hefner -- and his live-in ladies from the E! series The Girls Next Door -- to her own futile attempts to interview celebrities.
[edit] Season 1
All 12 episodes of the first season have been aired. Some previously thought that the first 8 episodes were season 1 and that season 2 began August 11th. The show originally ordered 8 episodes which aired from April 21st - June 9th. The show was given an additional 4 episodes to create a 12 episode season. The four remaining episodes began August 11th. The show finished its first season September 1st, 2006.

Speculation
There is no information yet as to whether or not the show was picked up for a second season. The fact that E! gave the show an additional 4 episodes for season 1 could be a hint that the show may return. If it does, it will probably be early 2007 or they may stick to airing the show around the same time season 1 aired which was around April. Starting January 5 Starveillance is set to take its spot after The Soup. No word if the show has been cancelled or not.
The Chelsea Handler Official Myspace site announced that new episodes of the show are coming in Summer 2007.
