The Central Missouri State University Theatre Department

The Central Missouri State University Theatre Department is located in The Wood Building at Central Missouri State University. Each academic year mainstage productions are performed in the Highlander Theatre adjoining the Wood Building. In addition to 4 mainstage productions a children's show, several studio/student directed one-acts, and black box/experimental plays are performed. As of 2006 Richard Herman is the chair of the department.

Each Summer the CMSU Theatre Department sponsors Central Missouri Repertory (CMR). CMR is a non-profit theatre company which annually produces three plays. Traditionally, the plays included one musical, one straight play, and one touring children's show.
