The Centaurus in a mixed-use development currently under construction in Islamabad, Pakistan. The project is placed over 6.59 acres of land in the Blue Area, Islamabad's main arterial corridor.
The complex is designed by WS Atkins PLC, whose portfolio includes the Burj al-Arab and Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai, and the World Trade Centre in Bahrain. It is a project of the Pakgulf Construction Company (Pvt) Ltd (PGCL). Pakgulf is based in Islamabad and is a joint venture between Al Tamimi (Saudi Arabia) and Sardar Builders (Pakistan).
Besides serving residential, commercial, and business purposes, the complex is intended to symbolise the growth of Pakistan, and to enable it to host international conferences and seminars in Pakistan's capital city.
The $350 million complex is planned to have a 37-storey deluxe hotel, with two 21-storey residential towers, a 25-storey corporate office tower, and a 5-storey shopping mall. The complex will have a parking lot to accomodate over 2,000 vehicles. It will be completed in 2010. It is designed to bear an earthquake of 9.5 magnitude.
