[edit] Plot
[edit] Part I
Catwoman steals a valuable necklace to fund the purchase of land for a mountain lion preserve. During her escape, she encounters Batman, and finds herself undeniably attracted to him. Afterward, Bruce Wayne dates Selina Kyle, Catwoman's alter ego, with similar results. In the midst of these budding romances, Selina/Catwoman learns that the land she wants has been snatched up by a suspicious cartel. Infiltrating the cartel's headquarters, Catwoman discovers evidence of a military facility inside a mountain on the land in question. As it turns out, the cartel is fronting for an international terrorist group headed by the Red Claw, a mysterious terrorist. The group will be using the land for a staging area. Batman learns that Catwoman is getting in over her head, although she's not aware of it.
[edit] Part II
Red Claw and her terrorists put their plans into motion, stealing a virulent strain of plague which they use to hold the city for ransom. Meanwhile Catwoman infiltrates the terrorists' under mountain headquarters, not realizing what she's getting into. When Batman follows her there, they're both captured, trussed up, and left to die as victims of the viral plague. They manage to escape though, and as Catwoman goes to face off with Red Claw, Batman commandeers a tanker truck, which he uses to douse the viral plague and, igniting it, destroys the plague.
[edit] Trivia
- Although this was not the first episode made, this was the first one aired, most likely aired first due to the success of Batman Returns, which featured Catwoman as well.
- Bruce Timm said that the end sequence is geared around the explosions, but they were artistically poor, and the animation was redone two to three times. Although he felt the final product was still awful, they ran out of time and had to air it.
- The appearance of Catwoman in the animated series looked very much like Michelle Pfieffer's Catwoman from Batman Returns. It was the same with the look of the Penguin.
