The Casbah
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Casbah is a 21+ music venue located near downtown San Diego.
The Casbah first opened its doors in 1989 and has since featured a variety of different bands in a small, close quarter setting. The first location held a maximum occupancy of 75 people. In 1994 the venue changed location to a larger building that can hold nearly 200 people. The new building features 3 different areas: the main music room with a full bar, an outdoor smoking patio, and the "Atari Lounge" which features 2 pool tables, a bar, and various retro arcade games dating back to the 1980s.
The majority of bands and artists that currently play at the Casbah are involved with various underground music scenes that are centered on the DIY ethic. [1] The Casbah is held in high regard as a staple in the San Diego music scene, [2] [3] [4],and has featured bands from many countries.
