The Cardinals are the current backing band of Ryan Adams, featured on the albums Cold Roses, Jacksonville City Nights, and the Adams-produced Willie Nelson album Songbird.
The band consists of Brad Pemberton (drums); Jon Graboff (steel guitar/guitar); Neal Casal (guitar); Chris Feinstein (bass). Cindy Cashdollar was replaced by Jon Graboff as the pedal steel player and JP Bowersock was replaced by Neal Casal as guitar player. In August of 2006, Catherine Popper left the band for what the band deemed "personal reasons." She was replaced by Cardinals collaborator Chris Feinstein.
Perhaps unrelated is the fact that Adams attended Jacksonville High School, whose mascot is the Cardinal.
