The Call (religion)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Call is a solemn assembly, a day of mass gathering to fast and pray for a nation and or for a specific region that was founded by Lou Engle in the USA. Many hundreds of thousands of people in the USA and other countries and continents gather together to fast and pray and seek God.

The Day is spent in much prayer, fasting and even weeping before God in repentance. The People worship throughout the day as they draw close to a God who desires mercy over judgment and is just to forgive the sins of those that confess them.

The last big gathering was in March 2005 with 10,000 people at the Gunsan, South Korea. And the next one is scheduled to be in Nashville TN July 7th 2007

[edit] Criticism

Critics rate The Call as a Christian fundamentalist group and part of the "Religious Right" because of its sharp rejection of premarital sex, homosexuality, abortion etc. The indoctrination of young people is also criticized.
