[edit] Synopsis

After being particularly hard on her staff, Liz overhears Lutz refer to her with a very offensive word and she decides to be more lenient with the other writers. However, they immediately take advantage of her lenience to get out of working and Liz eventually decides that, as their boss, she needs to be strict sometimes.

Meanwhile, Jack brings Tracy to a major golf event to get closer to GE CEO Don Geiss, however his plan backfires when Tracy acts too much like his uncensored self. Kenneth is paired with a fellow page named Grace Park at the event despite Kenneth's attraction to Grace.

[edit] Trivia

  • This is the third episode not to feature Jane Krakowski (Jenna Maroney) -- but it looks as though she may be seen in her dressing room while Kenneth talks to Pete about his pairing with Grace.
  • In the opening scene, Jack briefly sings "The Best" by Tina Turner.
  • This is the third episode in which Rachel Dratch plays cat wrangler Greta Johansen.
  • This episode was originally scheduled to air on January 4, 2007; but its air date was pushed back, apparently so that special guest star Rip Torn's appearance would air during Sweeps.
  • Alec Baldwin inadvertently put his cigar out on one of the guest star's face in between scenes. He apologized, made sure the man was ok, then asked for someone to re-light his cigar.
  • This episode mentioned John Lutz's home state where he last worked before Liz hired him, Alaska.
  • As in "The Break Up," where the sound of a vacuum cleaner repeatedly drowned out the "n" word whenever it was uttered, the offensive word of this episode's title is repeatedly drowned out by Greta Johansen shouting "Runt!" in reference to one of her cats. This is also the name of the Todd Rundgren album that Liz refers to when explaining her problem to Pete and Frank, though Frank thinks she is referring to "Hermit of Mink Hollow".
  • Speaking of "The Break Up," This one was supposed to have featured Dean Winters as Liz's boyfriend Dennis Duffy. However, he never showed up in this story, which might explain the alteration in the episode.
  • This is the first episode to air without an obvious Star Wars gag somewhere in the script, however the young Asian page named "Grace Park" is very likely a reference to the reimagined Battlestar Galactica, so a tradition of one sci-fi gag per episode is maintained.
