The CBS Enforcer Music Collection is a television news music package distributed by Gari Communications.
The package, originally known as CBS Enforcer, was commissioned by Chicago's WBBM-TV in 1994. The package is based on the station's 1975 news theme, which in turn was based on a song called "I Love Chicago, Chicago My Home". WBBM has dropped the package twice (once in 1997 and once in 2001), only to reintroduce it a few years after each attempt.
Gari Communications soon renamed the package Enforcer (and later, The Enforcer) in an attempt to market it to non-CBS stations. A few non-CBS stations did start using the package, such as KRIV/Fox 26 in Houston, KVII ABC 7 in Amarillo, KOB/NBC 4 in Albuquerque, and WVIT/NBC 30 in Connecticut.
In 2005, Gari Communications acquired the rights to several music suites by composer John Hegner, including News in Focus, a news theme package by which also featured the "I Love Chicago" signature. Since then several News in Focus themes have been remixed and in the CBS Enforcer Music Collection.
News in Focus uses the motif from the "I Love Chicago, Chicago My Home" news theme first heard on WBBM-TV in 1975 (later used by many CBS owned or affiliated stations). This package originated at KCBS-TV Los Angeles in 1997 and was updated in 2003 for WCBS-TV in New York. WCBS's sister station KYW-TV in Philadelphia also uses the package for its Eyewitness News newscasts. The official BMI names for the package are the rather prosaic "KCBS News Music Package" and "WCBS News Theme".
