The Brunswick Monogrammist

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Brunswick Monogrammist was an anonymous Netherlandish painter, so named for the monogram which apears on his Parable of the Great Supper Active in the mid-to-late 16th century, he also painted several scenes of secular merriment, including brothel and tavern scenes. One of these scenes, A Brothel Scene, resides in the Yale University Art Gallery in New Haven, Connecticut. His paintings have been attributed to a number of painters, including Jan van Hemessen and Jan van Amstel.[1]
