"The Bridge" is the first single off Elton John's 2006 album "The Captain & The Kid". The single is a simple, stripped-down production focused on Elton John and his solo piano, and it is considered as one of the singer's finest songs in many years. Before playing the song at a concert in Atlantic City, New Jersey on October 7, 2006, John introduced it as a song that can "apply to anyone" at any time in their lives because of whenever or wherever they have to move on instead of living in the past. They either cross the bridge, die trying, or fade away.
