The Breckinridge

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Breckinridge is a small, non-profit assisted living residence available to seniors with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia who are unable to live in their own homes, but who do not require the intense medical care provided by a skilled nursing facility.

Unlike most other facilities in America, The Breckinridge accommodates dementia residents who actively and consistently wander (one of the defining symptoms of Alzheimer’s).

Another distinguishing characteristic of the facility is the residential character of The Breckinridge, which provides a more supportive environment than traditional institutionalization.

The Breckinridge is located in Lexington, Kentucky.
